Snow!!!

Friday night mama decided she wanted to take Evan to see snow for the first time when daddy got home from work. We greeted him at the door dressed and packed to go. Evan was wearing his snow hat and mittens and yelled SEE SNOW!

We made the journey knowing there was 100% chance of snow in Raleigh, NC...a 7 hr drive...but if we found snow sooner we would stop there. In Fayetteville, NC mama was about to admit defeat with no site of snow or very cold weather...as soon as we hit the outskirts of Raleigh the snow started...and there was about 4" already on the ground!

We found a motel and watched the snow fall for a moment before going to sleep.

The next morning mama woke up first to see the white ground and then promptly woke up daddy & Ev and got everyone dressed. Evan looked alot like the boy from Christmas Story who was so wrapped up he could hardly move.

As soon as the door opened (before the camera was ready) Ev dropped to the ground and made his first snow angel.

We had to warm up and have breakfast...we tried the Perkins around the corner from the motel but they were closed 'due to winter storms' or so they sign said...no work ethic I tell ya! :) We found a Waffle House that had good employee who show up to cook delicious foods!
Evan ordered a hot chocolate all by himself...even thanking the server when she brought it to him.
Evan's boot print outside the restaurant.
Winter advisory, avoid travel through Monday. You see how busy the roads are right? Plus no traffic...the few cars that were out were either going 35 mph, were plowing the snow, or had already wrecked...so we had a nice peacful drive.
Loved this car...they had a snowman on the trunk while they drove down the road!
Evan didn't want to take off his coat or hat...I love the ice on the back windshield...our wipers kept freezing too...we thought the gas tank cover was frozen shut and we would be stuck at the gas station forever...except I was opening the trunk instead...OOPS...hard to tell what you are doing with gloves on!

Ice covered tree at the rest stop. Evan loved eating the icicles.

I <3 SNOW! My camera didn't like the cold so it wouldn't video tape outside long enough....here is a video of us inside talking about snow

Should have let me know (how I don't know), but Lew and I were in Fayetteville Friday night after leaving Virginia early due to the weather. We stayed at exit 49 at the Hampton Inn. We left around 10:00. Would have been interesting to run into you all!
