Most people have a night time routine here is ours...
The normal stuff:
Bath or shower
Pj's
Brush teeth
Clean out ears
The slightly different stuff:
We scare someone...one person walks down the hall like we don't know what is going to happen and then the other 2 people (usually mommy & Evan) jump out at unsuspecting person (usually daddy). *Evan asks to scare someone every night*
We talk about our favorite part of the day, each person says their favorite part and we all go in circles listing our favorite part...we often say up to 10 different favs a piece
We talk about what we want to be when we grow up, same concept as above
We say what we are thankful for, same concept as above
We read 1 book and then kiss goodnight.
We finish by shutting the door and say 'I'll see you in the...' and Evan shouts 'MORNING'.
In truth, this little ritual has quickly become my REAL favorite part of the day. Nightly I get to hear some adorable, funny, or absurd things.
In the past week or so:
Evan has said he is thankful for: water, ladybugs, robots, spiders, a painting JB made him of a monkey that hangs on his wall, his cousins Owen & Justin and sunshine.
He has had favorite parts of the day that include: camping, fishing, going to school, bounce houses, eating, playing with his friends, wrestling and jogging.
He has said when he grows up he wants to be a: firefighter, Buzzlight year, Iron man, Eye Doctor, dinosaur and Dog Doctor.
I am sharing all of this for those parents out there who are not doing some type of night time chat to hopefully inspire them to add the extra 5 minutes to their schedule because I truly and deeply love every second of this additional routine. We have probably been doing this for over a month now and every night is something new and wonderful.
